"Today I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses. I am offering you life or death, blessings or curses. Now choose life! Then you and your children may live." - Deuteronomy 30:19
I would guess that every one of us who agree with you Jim, know at least one "christian" who does not. Writing about it is hard work. Having a personal conversation with Trump followers is even harder. However, that may be what it takes. All of us may need to "go home".
Thank you for this column Jim. It is so reassuring to read what you have written. I agree wholeheartedly with all that you have said so clearly and with such authenticity and wisdom. I live in Canada and as many of us read about what is happening with the US government we are so dismayed and find it hard to believe. It is astounding and people need a strong voice like yours to be able to discern the truth of what is happening and to be reminded of the consequences of their choices. Thank you for your book and please keep speaking out. Love and prayers.
Jim, your writing in the 1980's and the witness of Sojourners taught and inspired me to Christian understanding and acting for justice and peace.
So I'm troubled by your slamming some of the GOP for blocking financial aid to Ukraine. By aid, much of this would be understood as military weaponry that is used to kill. By this I am not exonerationg Republicans. However, you seem to be using the admittedly dictatorial and bloody-hands of Putin to support Biden war policies. This might be RealPolitik, but how is this the way Jesus would call His followers to promote.
Yes, choose life! The way to life is not through tanks and missiles and bullets. Jim, you could at least have called for negotiations. Otherwise this endless war will destroy a generation of Russians and Ukrainians.
Thank you for speaking out against these far right racists. Please keep speaking out
That so many of these folks proclaim they are Christians is really scary. Seems to me they have not read the Bible at all.
Perfect, Jim. Spot on as usual. You inspire me in my ministry 😊♥️
