This is a call to truth and justice. I don't remember ever having such a stark choice before us. Perhaps our eyes and hearts can be opened to what all the oppressed people have always known. Our civil rights era was a crack in the facade of justice for all. In this time, immigrants and migrants are the visible target, but I suspect that once we have sunk to this level of inhumanity to man, none of us are safe from oppression. Let us act as one to follow Jesus and trust in God.

The Republican base are raised to follow the leader, regardless of the behavior. It is in the interpretation by the pastors to their congregations. Blaming the people who vote as they are told by their religious leaders or go to hell, is misdirected. This is a matter of the Church and the theological seminaries. How else did Donald become president and why else do the people follow his lead? It is because they have been taught the he is put here by God. Why is the call from the progressive wing not telling it like it is, that he is the anti-Christ and that their pastors who teach of his service as righteous have sold their souls for gain. Telling the Truth is the obligation, not only to the choir but to the people who have been misled. Where is the leader that stands up on a daily basis to Donald and his cohorts in such a way that the message is heard?

Racism, greed, cruelty are motivating MAGA .

People of conscience need to stand strong and long. We didn’t arrive at this place overnight and we won’t turn it around easily or quickly.

Let's start calling these people what they really are - white nationalists. A woke Jesus Christ has no room in a life filled with bile and hatred of anything or anyone 'other'.

Dear Jim – I have supported your work @ Sojourners for decades and appreciate all you do, especially for folks like me without a home port in the storm, so to speak.

I recently listened to the rebroadcast of your sermon @ Chautauqua (via your podcast) and while inspired by your message, it struck me that, at least in that setting and at that moment, you were “preaching to the choir.”

IMHO, it's the millions of self-proclaimed “Evangelical Christians” and other “believers” that you and others in the faith community must reach, especially those who've drunk the Kool-Aid as it were. . . some LED FROM THE PULPIT to follow T****, this most evil and pernicious “False God” of our time.

They are standing at the brink. And the rest of us, along with them.

What ever happened to “Thou shalt worship no other god before me”?

If God is, indeed, omnipotent…omniscient…and omnipresent, then - at the risk of sounding naïve - why did He allow T**** to happen? Not once. But TWICE!!! Only this time, it’s even worse.

Is God just going to let this disaster run its course, until all of the innocents (including non-white American citizens like me) are apprehended by ICE’s masked minions and disappeared to points unknown? Or are dead and gone?

Or until Noah is ready for the next Big Flood?

This fiasco isn’t on God, it is on those who voted for this and the Congress that has provided it. This budget is the golden calf that Aaron made in Exodus. Only in this case Speaker Mike Johnson is Aaron and MAGAts are the people.
