One thing I can say about being both a Democrat and a Christian is we don’t have to prove that we are Christians, we show it by how we are. We don’t just talk the talk. we walk the walk. We help our fellow human beings. We love our fellow human beings the way our Lord taught us too. we at least try to be Christ like even though we’re not perfect. I’ll admit that but we try. We let women make their own choices about their bodies. We believe that if the Lord was here on earth, he would be sitting here with the homeless people, the trans people, the LBGTQ people, people that are thought of than “less than”,not the rich and powerful. so if you say you are a Christian, try to at least prove Christ love through your actions.

The question that goes beyond all partisanship is: What is the source of your standards? It is a question all of must answer and be held account to. It’s an essential “I-Statement”.
Frances Perkins built Social Security between visits to a convent. Most of our social safety net was based on faith. Civil rights too. I think with people like Talarico, we are seeing this return.
Lori expresses the essence of the Establishment Clause. As a Christian pro-Choice Democrat, I also remember that Jesus did not ban abortion and that the Old Testament recognized life at the first breath of a human being. When Jesus spoke of bringing the little children unto him, what he would have thought of the recent bombing off an Iranian school that left 120 children dead. Love and Truth were His Way. Perhaps we should remember these princioles before we question the faith of others.

Throughout history, humans have been denied human rights because of arbitrary things like sex/race/religion/disabilities. With that being said, we would need a good explanation for why some biological human beings don't deserve human rights.
We already have consensus that we can only permit actions that result in the death of an innocent human being in very rare circumstances, if ever. A primary role of the government is to protect the innocent, especially the vulnerable. If abortion kills an innocent human being, is it one of those justifiable situations?
Adding another group of faux Christians to the existing one is not the answer. I look at those you name. Cory Booker is a notorious supporter of genocide and apartheid. He supports funding the terrorist Israeli government trying to wipe out 2 of the 3 Abrahamic faiths in the Middle East. While you claim moral independence from party politics, you actually seem to be justifying the sins of a corporatist war-mongering party because they are sugarcoating it with false religious pretensions. That they are not the corporatist war party currently in power does not whitewash it.

How do you reconcile “we let women make their own choices about their bodies” with the idea that people are made in God’s image?
