This fine column (and ongoing newsletter) from Rev. Jim Wallis -- champion of truth, justice, caring and healing for so many decades -- should be required reading in every Christian church.

I honestly don't think there is anything to add. Jim nailed it. Sad that so many White Evangelicals (and others) continue to follow their Pied Piper. We know how that one ended. Not well.

Thank you for your powerfully succinct column; keep reminding us how much we need to repent of our selfish ways in order to “ love justice and walk humbly “

Trumps admiration got Chairman Putnim of Russia is the carbon copy of who he would like to be as Ptrsident of our country. If Teump were President now, the Urkraine could expect zero help from the USA, in fact the war would already be over and Putnim would have ceased what he was after.

I tried sharing last week's column. One positive response (out daughter) and one negative (a generally trusted neighbor).

“Truth shall set us free” but how many are seeking the truth in the Republican Party? Canada is not far behind America. Many Canadians are taking their cue’s from watching how Americans are becoming a fascist country. Civil disobedience and civil discord are on the rise. Vulgar language signs accompanied with Christian scripture seem to be acceptable and an accepted means of getting your point across. We are also on a path that brings destruction to decent behaviour and decent interaction.

As a lifelong social justice advocate I am grateful to have companions such as Sojourners and you, Jim Wallis, to strengthen both my convictions and weariness during these unsettling times. Watching the faith communities being co-opted by pride and power is grievous to my heart (although this has an historical foundation in all faith traditions) the continuous media exploitation feels like the devil has finally found the way to destroy us from within. I am convinced the only antidote remains to love the stranger, listen to the broken hearted and to search for the lost. It will remain my constant prayer that the Lord of all Creation will once again call all of us to repentance ~ a repentance for failing to recognize Him in each other ~ so that the Original Blessing you speak about, will be restored for all. Thank you for being a wise elder and voice among the noise of so many lost souls.

I appreciate Jim Wallis and his ability to tell the truth through true Christian/Biblical intelligence. Our Bible Study Group read and discussed his book, "Christ in Crisis? Reclaiming Jesus"- which was a wonderful book and a wonderful study and discussion of it. I had been an admirer of Jim Wallace since I started subscribing to "Sojourner" - and looked forward to his Editorial in each issue. Twice a concern I had that I sent to the magazine, they printed my concern and their response. I wonder if anyone heard the report on NPR this morning when a reporter asked Trump what he wanted to happen on January 6, he replied, what my supporters want, and the reporter said what is that; trump replied to kill Mike Pence and to kill Nancy Pelosi. This man is insane and thankfully Jim Wallis is able to bring us the truth regarding all of this lunatics' plans to destroy our country and to lead this county into one full of hate, intolerance, and all the other things trump attempted to do during his reign of terror!
