Why don't you lead of movement of religious leaders of all faiths who stand up, publicly, for the ethical values that you and Cory Booker espouse? Specifically, why don't you and the other religious leaders "lock arms" and publicly protest the deportation of immigrants without due process, the dismantling of USAID that provides humanitarian aid around the world, the dismantling of the CDC, cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, SNAP, Head Start, etc, etc?
I'm an 81-year-old woman who delivers meals for seniors. As a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, I see first-hand why this program is so vital to our communities.
My "oldest client" hopefully will celebrate his 100th birthday in August. Mr. Thorp lives independently (his choice); there are family nearby to "jump in" as needed with rides to appointments, etc.
Not only is a meal delivered, but we take the time to talk with each person. We may be their only human "contact" that day. If we observe a senior needs assistance, we advise the "Meals" office.
Our seniors paid taxes their whole life. It's our turn to give them the support they need through programs like Meals on Wheels.
The human cruelty of this Administration is beyond anything I've ever experienced. If they're looking to reduce our national deficit and budget, one place they can look is our bloated defense budget which includes providing Space X funds to support the program. A huge portion of the defense budget, I'm sure, is going line the pockets of those, who don't need "Meals on Wheels."
If we are that powerful country, please explain to me why our Defense budget so outrageous -- and human services budget is being cut? Shame on us if this is allowed to move forward -- yes, shame on us. They are our neighbors and friends.
Your comments have helped me understand the significance of this speech in a new way. I am reminded that we are called to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Mr. Booker certainly put his mind and body into this speech. I am humbled and encouraged to give my utmost for the cause of helping those in need and saving our democracy.

That line was a standout for me too, Jonathan.
A much needed call during these chaotic times.

I shared this and Dante Stewart’s commentary with my activist small faith community.

Truly a prophet!

All good, but surely his support for Israel in the current genocide cannot sit right with you?
We gotta move beyond whataboutism
