Will Senators help Children and Families?
I encourage you all to write or call your Senators to let them know that you want them to vote in favor of the Child Tax Credit.
Tomorrow (Thursday) the United States Senate will vote to expand the Child Tax Credit. This bill, which passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 357-70 in January, would help 16 million kids and lift over 400,000 children out of poverty.
The CTC has been, unequivocally, the most important piece of legislation to reduce child poverty–period. In 2021, in the midst of COVID, the America Rescue Plan Act expanded the Child Tax Credit and cut child poverty in America in half. In a world of political distortions, this is an irrefutable fact.
But the failure to renew the CTC caused child poverty to instantly double on January 1st, 2022.
In response to a clearly moral commitment to children, with a provenly effective way to help reduce poverty among our most vulnerable kids, the Senate has to make a choice.
Today American Christian leaders who are part of the Circle of Protection spoke together, across the breadth of Christianity in America and across theological and political lines. You can read our letter to the Senate below.
I encourage you all to write or call your Senators to let them know that you want them to vote in favor of the Child Tax Credit.
Ask them, “Do you care about children, or not?” Their vote tomorrow will give you an answer. Watch them carefully.

I have already contacted my senators. No surprise, they both have responded that they are proud to support this bill - again.
My senators are both Republicans, one is a member of the sedition caucus. Ted Budd, the seditionist, comes from a wealthy family. He doesn't care about poor kids and their families.
