How Trump Sullies Everything and Everyone Around Him

Corruption isn’t even the right word, because Trump has never shown any morals to corrupt.

Donald Trump has led and continues to lead a very dirty life. He is a moral degenerate. Corruption isn’t even the right word, because Trump has never shown any morals to corrupt.

Trump has spent his whole life in filthy dirt – personally, sexually, relationally, financially –  in  business and politics. And Trump has pulled everything and everyone around him into the ugly mud of his own existence. The dirtiness of Donald Trump’s life and world is like a quicksand that sucks people in until they become dirty too. Perhaps the only thing that this famously greedy man shares is his filth. Donald Trump makes everyone around him dirty.

And as far as lies go, it isn’t the record number of lies that Trump has told as a candidate and president, but that his whole life is a lie, built and sustained on lies. Trump’s lies are all to serve his own success and power. Trump regards the truth as his enemy, and it is. His former White House chief of staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, told friends that: “The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship…..He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life.”

This is one of many candid and extraordinary warnings about Trump from conservative political and military leaders who hoped to be “the adults in the room.” To provide protections for the country in countering or moderating Trump – but gave up, hoping to prevent Trump from sullying their own lives and reputations. 

Sec. of Defense Jim Mattis said Trump is “the first president who does not try to unite the American people.” He criticized Trump’s handling of demonstrators after the slaying of George Floyd. Many of his former cabinet secretaries and White House advisors have criticized Trump for deliberate racial divisiveness and having neither the moral or intellectual fitness for office. So far, very few of his former Cabinet officers have endorsed Trump for a second term which is, as we keep saying, unprecedented.

Gen. Mark Milley offered a sharp defense of democracy in his farewell address, after serving four tumultuous years under Donald Trump as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the military.

“We don’t take an oath of office to a king or queen or to a tyrant or a dictator,” he said “And we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator.” 

“We don’t take an oath of office to an individual. We take an oath of office to the Constitution, and we take an oath of office to the idea that is America, and we are willing to die to protect it.”

When it was revealed that Milley reached out to his counterparts in China to assure them that the U.S. was “steady” when “things might seem unsteady,” Trump called Milley a traitor who should be executed.

Trump’s current trial in Manhattan shows us again how dirty Trump’s life was and is. He is accused of illegally covering up secret hush payments to a porn star he allegedly had sex with to protect his election. According to witness testimony, Trump made deals with sleazy tabloid editors to kill bad stories about him and publish unfounded rumors about his political opponents. Trump defamed and threatened witnesses, juries and judiciary staff until the judge threatened him with jail time.

Then members of the Senate and House, even the Speaker of the House, who claims the Bible as his platform, came to do Trump’s very dirty work, speaking out against the trial. 

It was not only shameful but painful to see these elected officials sully themselves by associating with Trump’s dirty sexual life, alleged campaign fraud, and ongoing political lies. It is now required of Republican candidates to accept his big lie of a stolen 2020 election. Recently, Senators like Marco Rubio and Tim Scott have twisted and turned but ultimately refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of proven fair elections and to accept the outcome of the election to come.

The more we watch, the dirtier they and their Republican Party get. 

The nation needs to understand that the BIG LIE in America is Donald Trump. As journalist George Stephanopoulos courageously says in his new book The Situation Room: the abnormal in American politics has become normal. More and more, what Donald Trump says and does is expected of him, causing little outrage or resistance. That’s just who he is. And he is running for President of the United States. 

So when Trump accuses the judge in the New York case of bias based on his background – (“just look at where he is from,” he said of Judge Juan Merchan, who was born in Colombia, grew up in Queens, and was the first person in his family to go to college – we’re just used to that now. Trump told women of color in the Congress to go back to where they came from, favors Muslim bans, and tells his angry white base that he will stop more immigrants from coming to America – unless they come from Norway or other majority-white countries, which would be fine with him.

Donald Trump is running for President of the United States again and most Republicans are endorsing him, including this week, when we saw the height of hypocrisy in Nikki Haley’s collapse of moral character in her promising to vote for a man she insisted was unfit for office – now dirtying herself along with Donald Trump.

Another controversy this week was a video posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, which fabricated old newspaper headlines, predicting what will happen if Trump wins the 2024 election. One of the headlines included the phrase “the creation of a unified Reich.” You may recall that Adolf Hitler referred to his era of power in Germany as “the Third Reich.” The post was quickly taken down after a great backlash, with Trump campaign officials blaming a staff member. That may or may not be true, but we must not miss the continual pattern of Trump’s authoritarian character and political agenda. Donald

Trump has given us no reason to trust him or his words. He lies constantly, we have seen.  

What we do know is that Dirty Donald Trump will keep dirtying America until we clean up our public life and save democracy from this dirty dictator.
